Whale Swimming Weekend Trip

Please nominate the day you would like to go whale swimming and be aware changes to the date may be required to suit weather and sea conditons along with minimum numbers.

Please confirm with us about weather and numbers before you travel, if you are coming to Coffs Harbour from away. We suggest planning a trip for a few days to allow for changes.

Whale Swimming Trips run regularly during August and September.

The Weekend Whale Swimming trip starts at 11.30AM at Jetty Dive Centre and finishes around 5.00PM. All equipment is included if you don't have your own. Special Trips may start in the morning at 7.30am by prior arrangement.

The Afternoon begins with kit up at our shop (398 Harbour Drive, Coffs Harbour) and then we board our boat at the marina in search of Humpback Whales. During the trip, we will see lots of Whales, and hopefully find some curious of our boat. When we feel that we have some that show interest, we will allow the swimmers into the water some distance away from the Whales and hopefully they will swim up to us. The encounter is entirely on the Whales terms. If they are not interested, we will get back onboard and try again.

You must be a confident swimmer to participate in this experience.

Pregnant women are not allowed to participate as the reaction with whales and dolphins is possibly unsafe and unknown, as well as the physically demanding aspect of entering and exiting the water.

This trip includes boat travel, and you are on a boat for about 5 hours. Please be prepared if vunerable to sea sickness. Even if you do not usually experience sea-sickness, we recommend taking travel sickness medication as it is better to be safe than sorry. We do not recommend using ginger.

We require 48 hours notice for all customer cancellations.

Within a day of booking, you will receive an email with important informatioin regarding your whale swim. Attached to the email there are two documents, a Whale Swim Brief and a Whale Swim Indemnity Form. The brief must be thoroughly read through, and the indemnity form must be filled out and returned to the shop prior to the day of your trip. - you can do this electronically via email if you desire. Please ensure you are checking your emails.
